When you open your FYP, you’re probably bombarded with fashionistas vying to be the next it girl. But how many of those girls have a weapon for a leg? Hey, sometimes disabled baddies just do it better. Enter Caylee Blosenski, a cancer survivor and small town Wisconsin resident who is cunt-ifying life with a limb difference. She’s refreshingly authentic and relatable, cosplaying everyone from Supergirl to a Victoria’s Secret Angel to everyday indie sleaze in 2014, to a Grand Theft Auto NPC. In her videos, Blosenski is every woman everywhere. 

Last Halloween, Blosenski dressed up as Cherry from the 2007 zombie action comedy film, Planet Terror. Cherry is a go-go dancer with a machine gun prosthetic leg and a member of a ragtag group of survivors defending themselves from flesh eating mutants. The response was immediate and Blosenski quickly became a rising icon of fashion TikTok. 

In her comment sections, her audience will often instinctively respond with “ampu-tea” in response to every new video notification. It’s a fitting reaction: her prostheses act as a wellspring of creative ideation, the statement piece from which every outfit’s style flows. Through them, she’s found a door to constant invention – becoming and unbecoming what a woman, or what a disabled woman, is supposed to be. 

Ahead of her move to LA, we chatted with Caylee about glamour, growth, and grindhouse. 

ERIN TATUM   

So to kick things off, how would you describe what you do?

CAYLEE BLOSENSKI 

Oh gosh, how would I describe what I do? That’s a great question that I am still asking myself to this day. I am just a creative person. I love being behind a camera and showcasing my work and creativity in that way.  I think with social media and acting and modeling, it’s really helped me gain confidence and help my creativity grow. I’ve also had a lot of fun with prosthetic legs and I think that’s something that was built into me after my amputation. And building prosthetics and creating unique ideas is something I’ve had a lot of fun with.

ERIN 

I would consider your prosthetic your ultimate accessory. How do you choose to style your prosthetic and what relation does it have to the rest of your outfit in terms of how you view it?

CAYLEE 

Yeah, absolutely. It is my most expensive and most worn accessory, but I have had such luxury and I’m just so grateful to even have these fun prosthetics that I’ve dreamt of having since I was a kid. Incorporating these legs into my outfits is something that I’m really passionate about, whether it’s wearing tights or dresses or skirts. I think emphasizing my uniqueness with the legs I wear is something that I always have in the back of my mind while I’m getting ready. 

ERIN  My personal favorite is the machine gun. Is that a reference to a movie?

CAYLEE 

It is, yeah. Actually, it is so funny because when I started social media, I had no idea about this movie. I was getting comments about Cherry and this grindhouse movie. And so I looked into it and I was like, “This is iconic and I need a leg like this.” I reached out to the person who helped me design and build these legs for me and they were so down to do this machine gun leg. I did it for Halloween and I’ve just been accessorizing it and wearing it every day and in my videos since.

ERIN 

Personally, it would be my favorite leg. I would never stop wearing it. 

CAYLEE 

I know, it is so fun. Even just styling it in different and weird ways is something that I’ve recently had a lot of fun with, incorporating a lot of pink and colors and stuff that would usually not go with a machine gun leg. But I definitely always want to keep it light and fun and not make it gory and scary.

ERIN 

How did you start creating your content or why did you choose to become a content creator?

CAYLEE 

I just love being behind a camera. I’ve been acting and modeling since I was 11 years old. Social media has been something that I’ve been putting on the back burner, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I started posting to help other people with having that public figure where they realize, “Oh, I can be different and look different, but also still be fashionable and still have a happy life.” Because I think at least in my experience, after my amputation and having cancer, it was really hard for me to get out of this mindset of I’m not just a sick kid. I’m not just this unuseful person. I can be whoever I want to be and have a life I’ve always dreamt of having. I really needed that as a kid. If I can help one person with a disability or whatever stage they are in life, that’s a huge goal of mine. It’s built my confidence in so many ways. I was such an anxious and scared little girl. It’s helped me build confidence and create a fun relationship with my community.

ERIN 

You’re becoming the role model that you needed when you were younger.

CAYLEE 

Exactly. I absolutely needed a role model. If I can help one person step out of their comfort zone and realize they can have freedom and be who they want to be, and be fashionable and fun and cool, that’s all that matters really.

ERIN 

How has your audience responded to your content?

CAYLEE 

Oh my gosh, they have been absolutely amazing. I’m still having imposter syndrome over it because again, growing up in a really small town, it’s an unspoken rule to be all the same person. If you were different or if you were unique, it was looked down upon. Posting on social media, I’ve found a community and people that love me for me. That’s been an absolute dream of mine and I couldn’t be more grateful.

ERIN 

And if anything, I think it shows that everyone has a family. There’s a market for everyone and there will be people who support you no matter what.

CAYLEE 

Absolutely. I think that the support is all you can ask for, and I’ve received that and it’s been beautiful and it’s been something that I’m really, really happy about.

ERIN 

What would you say inspires you?

CAYLEE 

Honestly, fashion. Fashion has been in my life since I was a kid. I’ve always loved clothes and I always made sure to leave an hour before school to get ready to make sure I was looking cool for my third grade class. But I have found so much love and found myself expressing my styling and clothes, especially with my prosthetics. It’s allowed me to be creative.

ERIN 

And that’s really wonderful because in a way you built your own fingerprint from the toes up.

CAYLEE 

That is such a good way to put it. Yeah. Even with prosthetics, I have always wanted to have these unique prosthetics that I can really feel myself in. Especially when I was first getting my legs, it was a really sad and scary process. I actually refused to wear prosthetics for a whole year because it was just out of fear of what was next to come because I didn’t know. So now that I’m able to incorporate fashion and these creative ideas that I have into my legs, I’ve really found myself and found my creativity and it’s amazing. 

ERIN 

What are you trying to say through your content?

CAYLEE 

That you can be whoever you want to be. I think that was a huge struggle of mine. With my content and my social media, I just want people to realize that they can get out of their shell and be confident with who they are instead of trying to impress other people.

ERIN 

I feel like that’s really important because ultimately if you want other people to embrace your individuality, a lot of people don’t realize that the need for external validation comes from a lack of internal validation. You really need to examine how you see yourself and how you perceive the way that you move through the world.

CAYLEE 

I really struggled with trying to find who I was, and it was always in the back of my mind a fear of what other people thought of me. Since becoming an actress and model and creating videos on social media, I’ve realized that there’s only one of you. There’s only one of everybody and you are enough. I can be confident. I can be whoever I want to be. I don’t need to be constantly worried about the noise of other people and the criticism. As long as I’m happy with myself and I know that I’m doing the right thing, I think that’s all that matters.

ERIN 

You really have to trust your own compass to guide you at the end of the day because you have no idea what kind of lived experience anyone that’s giving you feedback or criticizing you or treating you poorly has had. So it’s really important to keep that in mind and extend as much empathy and grace to others as you can. But also at the same time, you have to realize that you can only control your own actions.

CAYLEE 

There’s always going to be noise – it’s just finding a good relationship with who you are and your audience and knowing that as long as you’re doing the right thing and as long as you’re happy with yourself and you are more than able to be confident and be happy with who you are.

ERIN 

Where do you keep up with fashion?

CAYLEE

That’s a good question. I have had such a weird relationship with fashion and my personal style. As long as I’m feeling good, as long as I feel like I look good, I think that’s where I stand because I love all fashion. I love all styles and there’s no style that I wouldn’t try. I think for me personally, incorporating fashion from generations ago (like vintage clothing) is something that I have really found myself in.

ERIN

What do you think is next for you?

CAYLEE

I’m really excited for the rest of 2026 and early 2027. I have a lot of acting and modeling projects in the works, but I am really trying to be more in the present and be happy with where I am today. Some huge goals of mine would be stepping out of my comfort zone and doing more modeling. I would absolutely love to one day walk in a runway show, but I’m not putting the timeline on that. I don’t think you can. My ultimate dream brands and designers would be Scaparelli, Rick Owens, Dsquared, and Victoria’s Secret.

ERIN 

Oh, fingers crossed.

CAYLEE

Fingers are crossed. Hopes are high, but you can’t put a timeline on those things.

ERIN

Going to LA will be an entirely new chapter for you.

CAYLEE

Hopefully being out there will open a lot of doors for me.

ERIN
